Georgetown Wills and Probate Attorney

Protecting the People and Things That You Care About

Over 30 Years of Texas Estate Planning and Probate Experience

One of the most important ways a lawyer can help you protect your family is through estate planning. By creating an estate plan, you can make sure that your loved ones will be taken care of after you pass away.

Jim Jarvis has more than a quarter century of experience representing Texas families. He will take the time to understand your situation and draft an estate planning package that meets your family's needs.

Affordable, Comprehensive Estate Planning

You may be worried that it will cost too much to have an attorney draft your will and other estate planning documents. You may have been told that attorneys or the State will take a large part of your estate if you don't have an expensive "Living Trust." This is simply not true for the vast majority of Texas families. Jim Jarvis can provide a "Will package" for most people for a flat fee of $395.00 for a single person or $650.00 for a couple (if the wills are similar and done at the same time).

During your initial consultation, Jim Jarvis will listen to your situation and explain all of your estate planning options. Depending on your needs, he will create an estate planning package that includes the following documents:

  • Will — Every adult should have a will to outline his or her wishes about how their property should be distributed. Your will may include a "spendthrift" trust for children. Parents also use their will to name a guardian for minor children.
  • Durable Power of Attorney - You may designate someone to carry out financial business for you, even if you later become disabled.
  • Medical Power of Attorney - Who will make medical decisions if you are unable to? Also included is a "HIPPA" compliant release to enable your agent to get the information he or she needs to make decisions.
  • Declaration of Guardian - With the above powers of attorney, even if you become disabled, you may never need a court-appointed guardian. However, just in case, you can choose who you would want to be guardian.
  • Directives to physicians — Also called, "Living Will."  Many clients have strong feelings about end-of-life care. Through a directive to your physician, you can make your feelings clear and give your doctors specific directions to follow.

If you have a non-taxable estate in the Round Rock area, attorney Jarvis will give you the estate planning documents you need to protect the people and things you care about.

When a Loved One Passes Away

If you have recently lost a family member, you may need a lawyer to help you handle the legal issues that arise. Whether or not the deceased had a valid will, attorney Jarvis and his staff will work to help properly distribute their assets and complete the probate of their estate.

With over 30 years of estate planning and probate experience, attorney Jarvis will explain all of your legal options and help you make informed decisions. Call 512-930-8250 or contact attorney Jarvis online to schedule an appointment.
